House of Doom Introduction
House of Doom is a branded video slot from Swedish provider Play’n GO, based around a song by Swedish band Candlemass. Played using 5 reels and 10 paylines, it accepts bets from between 10 p/c and €/£100 per spin on any device.

As for symbols, these include 4 premiums represented by ram skulls, flaming roses, crosses and pentagrams, with the ram skull being the top one awarding you 70x for five of a kind. On the list of lower value symbols we get Gothic style A, K, Q, J and 10.

House of Doom is a step away from the cartoonish and more childish looking slots released by Play’n GO as of late, so it’s nice to see some change. If you’re not a fan of rock music, however, it might be a bit of a turn off as the soundtrack is quite heavy. Visually, the slot has got a dark heavy metal, horror type theme set against a spooky backdrop.

House of Doom Features
Landing 5 wild symbols on a full line awards 100x. Moreover, on each base game spin, one reel is randomly highlighted, and if the wild symbol lands on this reel it will expand to give you a full wild reel.

The Skull Abyss Bonus game is a picking type bonus and is triggered when the Skull Scatter symbol lands on the 3 middle reels. Like most picking bonuses, especially in Play’n GO slots, it’s nothing that will get your heart rate going. What happens in this bonus is that you get to pick skulls one at a time and which will then reveal cash prizes. What’s interesting however is that it’s possible to trigger the Doom Spins, so they’ve added a bit of a twist here to an otherwise boring, standard picking bonus. Great.

This is where the magic happens, or could potentially happen. To trigger the free spins, players need to land the House of Doom symbol on reels 1, 3 and 5, giving you 10 free spins. During free spins, the House of Doom Scatter is transformed into a House of Doom Wild symbol to give you more wilds.

In the Free Spins mode, the number of highlighted reels are increased. The game will randomly highlight between 2 and 5 reels and if a Wild or Wild House of Doom symbol lands on these reels, they will then expand into a wild reel. Potentially, this can result in 5 wild reels and a 2500x win in a single spin.

On a final note, 3 or more Wild House of Doom symbols award the player with one additional free spin per symbol. There is no limit to how many times the game can re-trigger.

House of Doom Conclusion
Highly volatile, House of Doom comes across as quite the standard Play’n GO slot with the design as its only stand-out feature. This doesn’t mean it’s a bad game, but it’s hard to get hyped about something offering no innovative features. It’s got ok potential on offer though to keep excitement level up. This is very much needed as the base game is kind of…meh. If you can live with the music and the Gothic looks, then House of Doom might be for you. If not, you are likely to find games better suited for you in the Play’n GO portfolio.
